GENESYS, in its pursuit to protect the environment, supports SACASUN’s innovative strategy for solar power system.It is its way to be part of the environmental solution paving the way to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.GENESYS helpedprepare the community particularly in Barangay Punao, San Carlos City to appreciatethe benefits of solar energy. It allowed them to be part of the solution, part of the low-carbon economy, and be in control of their economic and environmental sustainability.The construction of the solar power plant, moreover is also expected to hire workers from the host community thereby generate employment to the San Carlos populace.

A series of Barangay session  meetings and public consultations activities  attended and conducted for South Negros BioPower Inc and San Carlos Solar Energy Inc.

2012

Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign Towards the Establishment of Commercial Woody and Grassy Energy Crop Plantations

The previous year’s initiatives into IEC were focused on educating and advocating to the general public, government officials and farmers the trend towards the use of renewable energy, the applicability of harnessing sugarcane trash as a biomass fuel and the sustainable cultivation and utilization of biomass resources.

With this initiative economic and as well as environ-mental advantages are advocated. These benefits shall be had from the better utilization of the surrounding uplands of San Carlos and neighboring municipalities. Marginal lands developed into energy crop plantations shall be made productive either with the establishment of woody (short rotation coppicing species) or grassy (Giant Tabunak) garnering income for the landowner where there was none before.

1-One of he most successful RE public consultation conducted for one  prospective biomass power plant. It was well attended by refpresentative from DOE ( Dept of Energy ), technical people from Univ of the Phils , well attended by politicians from administrative and legislative sector of  San Carlos -LGU and the 2 communities of barangays Palampas and Punao. 2 &3-  Another strategy for the IEC team , a barangay to barangay pulong-pulong approached were done to fast track the availability of   identifying farmers and be prospective  farmers to establish and plant  Energy Crop Plantation ( ECP) for the biomass powerplant . 4. - Economic and environmental benefits were introduced  from the solar power plant public consultation with  Barangay Punao community. 5.IEC team of GENESYS were actively involved from posting announcement to public places as a sign as a  fair and balance practice of  information drive.
